Cook Suspended, Out 2 Games
Saturday, July 3rd, 2021
The baseball commissioner has suspended 76ers first baseman Avery Cook 2 games for arguing too vehemently on a called third strike in the Irvine game at Ballpark of Providence. Apparently he said the magic words and was ejected by the home plate umpire. He went into the dugout, then returned to the field, resumed his argument with the umpire and had to be restrained by his first base coach.
Cook said he shouldn't have gone back on the field.
"I was pretty mad. I was all over the place."
In his stats this season, Cook has posted a batting average of .194 with 7 hits in 36 at-bats, 2 home runs and 5 RBIs. He has also scored 4 runs, walked 3 times and compiled a .275 OBP.
