The Mesa Barracudas grabbed a win, 5-4, over the Indianapolis Gearheads at The Junkyard. Mesa catcher Francisco Mejia was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Mesa pitcher Zac Grotz got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Scott Oberg got the loss. Joe Jimenez converted his 22nd save in 24 tries.
Mejia had a game-changing double in the top of the ninth. On a 2-1 sinker from Scott Oberg, he banged a run-scoring double to right, giving the Barracudas a 5-4 lead. It was the 15th double of the year for Mejia.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Mejia told the Mesa Times.
With the win, Mesa goes to 44-56, while the Gearheads fall to 39-61.
