League Championship Series Goes the Distance, St. Paul Prevails
Friday, September 24th, 2021
The St. Paul Mountain Cats and Sunrise Manor Miners didn't hold back anything in the League Championship Series, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the World Series.
St. Paul won the final game by a score of 8-5 at Mountain Cats Ballpark and that concluded the series, 4-3.
"Relief is the biggest thing," St. Paul second baseman Walter Pereira said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and Sunrise Manor deserves credit for the hard fight."
Pereira paced the St. Paul offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .346 with a .370 on-base percentage, 3 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The St. Paul Mountain Cats will play against the Harborcreek Chicks in the next round. Harborcreek won their series against the Shreveport Flying Squirrels 4 games to 3. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
