Monday, October 12th, 2020
He may have less experience than most of his OLL Short Season A peers, but that didn't slow Akil Baddoo down at all in 2020.
At the age of 22, the Westfield center fielder has been named the winner of the OLL Short Season A Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .303 batting average and a .408 on-base percentage this year. In 73 games he piled up 83 hits, 13 doubles, 3 triples, 9 home runs, 31 RBIs and 39 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 26. Mike Thorson of the Harborcreek Chicks finished second in voting with 8 first place votes, while Walter Pereira of the St. Paul Mountain Cats finished third with 6 first place votes.
