Year Over for Mud Hens Acosta
Saturday, September 5th, 2020
The doctors have spoken and Melvi Acosta of the Amarillo Mud Hens didn't like what he heard. The 25-year-old closer is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Acosta sustained his season-ending injury during the Kansas City Silver Knights game yesterday at Mud Hens Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Amarillo medical staff reported Acosta had a stretched elbow ligament and would be absent from the lineup for at least 9-10 months.
To date Acosta has 3 saves with a 2-2 mark and 5.59 ERA. Opposing teams are hitting .282 against him.
