Alden Blanked by Humphrey, 7-0 Tuesday, August 18th, 2020 It wasn't easy but the Birmingham Drifters made it look that way. Starter John Humphrey shut out the Alden Crosscutters despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Birmingham Drifters cruised to victory, 7-0. Humphrey allowed only 2 hits and rang up 6 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up." Humphrey has posted a 1-4 record for the year with a 6.75 ERA. Teams are hitting .299 against him and he has rung up 17 strikeouts in 26.2 innings. View Boxscore |
