League Gets Last Word, Suspends Madris 4 Games
Thursday, September 2nd, 2021
Hassle an umpire and you will have to pay the consequences. Just ask Des Moines right fielder Bligh Madris. He argued to excess over a third strike yesterday in the Des Moines-Reno game at Legion Ballpark. Today the league office notified Madris that he had been given a 4-game suspension for his egregious conduct. Luckily the Legion manager and the bench coach intervened physically and removed him from the field. Otherwise it might have gotten even worse.
This season Madris has delivered 114 hits in 437 at-bats for a .261 average with 20 home runs. He is getting on base at a .349 clip and his totals also include 53 RBIs and 63 runs scored. This year Madris has played in 120 games.
