No-Hitter for Diplan Tuesday, August 10th, 2021 Marcos Diplan really did a number on the Moreno Valley Speed Devils at Virginia Beach Fields today -- and that number was zero. The Virginia Beach Defenders hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Defenders to victory, 7-0. "This is something special," Diplan said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look." The right-hander faced only 31 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 16 and walked 2. "We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," Moreno Valley manager Travis Leland said when asked about the epic performance. "Diplan was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number." In season stats Diplan shows a 12-6 record in 23 games, 141.2 innings, 219 strikeouts and a 2.10 ERA. View Boxscore |
