Adonis Medina Hurt, Out for Year
Thursday, July 22nd, 2021
Virginia Beach reliever Adonis Medina could miss the remainder of the season because of a fractured elbow. He exited yesterday's Jersey City game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Medina would be out 5 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."

Medina has pitched 100 innings and molded a 4.77 ERA with no saves. He has surrendered 83 hits while registering 141 strikeouts on his way to a 6-10 record for the Defenders this year.
