Swing! Swang! Swung! Alvarez-Lopez Smashes 3 HR Thursday, June 24th, 2021 Sometimes it just isn't enough. Jared Alvarez-Lopez had an outstanding day at Celtics Stadium for the Virginia Beach Defenders today, ripping three home runs. Nonetheless, the Defenders fell to the Hallock Celtics, 4-3. Alvarez-Lopez had a feast at the plate, pounding everything thrown his way. The 20-year-old catcher banged out 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 times and batted in 3 runs. Despite his sensational performance, the Defenders were not able to hold off the Celtics. "Baseball is a funny game," Alvarez-Lopez said in the post-game interview, "You can't dwell on the reasons for the loss. I'm sure there will be days when I go 0-for-4 and we win. These things tend to even out." Jared Alvarez-Lopez hit a solo-shot off Tim Elliott in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Tim Elliott in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Aaron Shortridge in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. For the season Alvarez-Lopez has produced 29 hits in 134 at-bats for a .216 average with 6 home runs and gotten on base at a .245 clip. |
