Irvin Mows Down Oceanside in No-Hitter
Monday, June 14th, 2021
In a dominant outing, Jake Irvin of the Garland Ocelots totally silenced the bats of the Oceanside Tincaps, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the Ocelots' 4-0 victory, Irvin faced only 28 batters, surrendered no hits, had 13 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Garland manager Steve Liddle said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Danny Ayres told reporters in the clubhouse that he had a "simple" analysis of the game.
"The Ocelots had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Irvin pitched a heck of a ballgame."
On his stats sheet this season Irvin shows a 3-2 record, 2 starts, 45.2 innings, 64 strikeouts and a 1.58 ERA.
