Drifters End Rivera's Streak Sunday, September 6th, 2020 The 20-game hitting streak of Moreno Valley Speed Devils third baseman Emmanuel Rivera came to an end today at Drifters Stadium. The Birmingham Drifters held him hitless in 5 at-bats and also sent the Speed Devils down to defeat, 10-4. Later, Rivera acknowledged to BNN reporters that the hit streak meant something to him. "It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. It was what we're all supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try to score runs. It was a cool deal, but it's over now. Let's try to start a new one." This year Rivera is batting .273 with 85 hits, 11 home runs, 33 RBIs, 22 walks, .330 OBP and has scored 39 runs. |
