Oxnard's Sparkman Sidelined for Season
Thursday, July 8th, 2021
The doctors have spoken and Glenn Sparkman of the Oxnard Baycats didn't like what he heard. The 29-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Sparkman sustained his season-ending injury during the Cincinnati Defenders game yesterday at Defenders Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Oxnard medical staff reported Sparkman had a torn meniscus and would be absent from the lineup for at least 5 months.
His record this year is 5-6 in 16 starts and Sparkman has a 4.53 ERA.
