Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Saturday, September 11th, 2021
Yesterday at The Fortress Austin Meadows and Josh James got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Philadelphia Phalanx and Denver Moose. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Meadows will have to sit out 2 while James would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
In 55 games this year Meadows has posted a .288 average and put up these numbers: 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and 32 runs scored.
This season James has compiled a 9-12 mark with a 5.05 ERA in 30 starts.
