Sanchez Whacks 3 out of the Park for Denver
Monday, September 6th, 2021
Denver Moose catcher Gary Sanchez almost did it all today. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 5 runs and had 3 hits in 4 at-bats.
The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Moose to victory. The Baltimore Archers escaped with the 21-11 win by the Baltimore despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Sanchez.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game.
Gary Sanchez grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jacob Nix in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jacob Nix in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Chad Green in the 7th and walked in the 9th.
"When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Denver manager mkirshenbaum . "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the Ottoneu Lockdown League. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good Ottoneu Lockdown League hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it."
Sanchez's current batting average stands at .232 and he has chalked up 31 home runs and 92 RBIs.
