La Stella Stretches Hit String to 20 Wednesday, August 18th, 2021 San Diego's Tommy La Stella went 1-for-3 in the Matadors 5-0 victory over the Memphis Ragin Cajuns at San Diego Grounds today. The performance stretched his hitting streak to 20 games. "I'm in a groove right now, and I'm trying not to change anything," the 32-year-old joked with reporters after the game. "These socks I'm wearing, I've had them on for 20 games. Same jersey on for 20 games. Jock, 20 games. Honestly, I'm kind of hoping it ends just so I can finally do some laundry." Tommy La Stella singled in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th and grounded out in the 7th. This year La Stella is batting .343 with 168 hits and 18 home runs.
