Players Suspended in Jumbo Shrimp-Ragin Cajuns Donnybrook Tuesday, June 29th, 2021 Yesterday at The Crustacean Station Brandon Nimmo and Matt Wisler got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Fresno Jumbo Shrimp and Memphis Ragin Cajuns. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Nimmo will have to sit out 3 while Wisler would be given a 7-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Nimmo is batting .246 this year with 11 home runs, 48 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 70 hits in 284 at-bats. Wisler has gone 4-5 this season with an ERA of 5.89 and 83 strikeouts in 91.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .283 against him. |
