Sun Kings Edge Archers 5-4 to Open WS
|
Baltimore first baseman Pete Alonso pounded Ft. Worth Sun Kings pitchers at Ft. Worth Ballpark of the Kings, but it was not enough to keep the Archers from falling, 5-4 in Game 1 of the World Series. Alonso hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, though he couldn't keep the Archers from slipping to a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-7 series.
Aaron Judge, who finished 2nd in the OLL in home runs with 55 last year, aided the Ft. Worth cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Ft. Worth manager astraea.m.k .
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Ft. Worth Ballpark of the Kings. The scheduled starters for the game are Luis Severino for Baltimore and James Paxton for Ft. Worth.
