Ruiz Impresses in Cleveland Loss
Despite a great performance by Cleveland catcher Keibert Ruiz, the San Diego Matadors defeated the Spiders by the score of 8-6 at The Web. Ruiz went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. Luiz Gohara got the win, improving to 7-1. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 12 and walking 1. Matt Barnes notched his 16th save in 16 chances.

It could have been a different outcome for San Diego, had it not been for Bryce Harper, the fan favorite . Harper contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put San Diego up, 3-1.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Harper said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

The win for the Matadors raised their record to 41-34.
