The Greensboro Jabberwocks got a superb performance from pitcher Mike Soroka, but the Nashville Nightcaps still won the game, 4-3. Soroka threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was Yency Almonte in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Jose Leclerc took the loss. The triumph puts Nashville at 33-25 for the season.
Nashville used the timely hitting of Mookie Betts to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Nightcaps on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Betts said.
