The New York Yaks grabbed a win, 7-4, over the El Paso Metro Stars at Yaks Ballpark. New York first baseman Anthony Rizzo went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Josh Green. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 4-0. The Metro Stars fall to 11-20 and continue their uneven start to the 2021 season.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Buster Posey came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing El Paso pitcher Andrew Kittredge, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 5-4.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Posey. "Just do my job."
