Murder Hornets Drop 6-5 Decision
|
The Austin Murder Hornets got a sterling performance from center fielder Alex Verdugo, but the Denver Moose still prevailed, 6-5. Verdugo was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ian Kennedy picked up the win in relief for Denver, while Genesis Cabrera took the loss. The Murder Hornets drop to 15-16 and continue their mediocre start to the 2021 season.
Juan Soto, who is tied for 4th in the OLL with a .676 slugging percentage, chipped in for Denver with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Soto. "And not try to do too much."
