Sycamores Defeat Nightcaps, 5-3
|
Brooklyn Sycamores starter Walker Buehler was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Nashville Nightcaps, 5-3. Brooklyn reliever Jordan Hicks was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Freddy Peralta. Nashville drops to 15-15.
Brooklyn used the timely hitting of Daulton Varsho to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Sycamores on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Varsho said in reaction to the win.
