Sycamores Fall Short, 7-6, at Nashville
|
The Brooklyn Sycamores and Nashville Nightcaps provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Nashville Nightcaps topped the Brooklyn Sycamores by the score of 7-6, with the largest share of the credit going to designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks for the Nightcaps. The winning pitcher was Kwang-hyun Kim. He tossed 101 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits.
Jorge Polanco went 1 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Nashville. The 27-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Tyler Mahle. It was his 14th RBI of the season.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Polanco said (again).
Nashville goes to 15-14.
