Starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. pitched well enough to help the Brooklyn Sycamores beat the Nashville Nightcaps, 5-4. McCullers Jr. got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. McCullers Jr. allowed 3 runs. Picking up the save was Jordan Hicks, his 8th.
Brooklyn used the timely hitting of Monte Harrison to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sycamores on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Brooklyn manager Miguel .
Nashville falls to 14-14.
