Votto Shines, But Milkshakes Fall Short
|
The Mesa Barracudas had to overcome a big game from Milwaukee first baseman Joey Votto to leave The Blender with a victory. And they did, winning 9-6. Votto went 2-2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Joe Jimenez recorded his 7th save for Mesa. Milwaukee falls to 18-11.
Mesa needed the clutch hitting of Anthony Rendon to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Barracudas on top, 9-6. For the game, Rendon had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Mesa manager tuggernuts .
