Jabberwocks Snag 10-7 Win
|
The Greensboro Jabberwocks withstood an impressive performance by Denver second baseman Carter Kieboom to defeat the Moose, 10-7, at The Bandersnatch. Kieboom went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Reliever Phil Maton picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Nick Sandlin took the loss. Austin Adams got the save, his 25th in 29 chances.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Yusniel Diaz came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Denver pitcher David Bednar, he hit a first pitch splitter for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Greensboro on top, 9-7.
"We got the victory," said Diaz. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
The loss makes Denver 72-83.
