Zimmerman Slugs Archers to 5-4 Win
|
No one was more impactful than Ryan Zimmerman in the 5-4 Baltimore win over Tucson. Zimmerman hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Noah Syndergaard, the winning pitcher, improved to 13-7. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 0. Hector Neris was credited with the save, his 13th in 17 tries.
With Baltimore leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Zimmerman hit a slider from MacKenzie Gore for a 2-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Archers ahead, 3-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Baltimore manager damgagnon . "It's usually not just one thing."
The victory gives Baltimore a record of 96-58.
