The Cleveland Spiders had to overcome a fine effort from El Paso pitcher Michael Wacha to grab a narrow 3-2 win at El Paso Grounds. Wacha went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs. Jesus Luzardo earned the win for Cleveland. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 12-13. Cleveland now sits at 76-80, while El Paso falls to 73-83.
The Spiders got an important contribution from right fielder Michael Conforto, who in the top of the eighth hit a 0-2 fastball into right-center for a 2-run double. It was his 17th double of the season and put the Spiders ahead, 3-1.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Cleveland skipper chy924 .
