The Rochester Squirrel Cats beat the Ft. Worth Sun Kings, 10-7, at Ft. Worth Ballpark of the Kings. Rochester second baseman Gavin Lux had an outstanding performance. He belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Rochester reliever Thomas Szapucki picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Cionel Perez was tagged with the loss. Ft. Worth drops to 9-9.
Rochester relied on the hitting of Travis Shaw to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put the Squirrel Cats on top, 8-7. For the game, Shaw had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Lux told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
