Fresno Wins, 5-4, in Extra Innings
|
The Fresno Jumbo Shrimp did just enough to sneak past the Austin Murder Hornets, 5-4, at The Hornet Nest. Fresno shortstop Miguel Rojas, in particular, had a standout performance. Reliever Keyvius Sampson picked up the win. His record improves to 5-4. Ross Stripling took the loss. At 69-78, Fresno is in 8th place in the Ottoneu Lockdown League Yelich Division.
Fresno needed the clutch hitting of Mike Ford to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Jumbo Shrimp on top, 5-4. For the game, Ford had 1 home run and 2 singles in 6 at-bats.
"It was terrific getting this win," Rojas said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
