Sycamores Win at Indianapolis, 10-4
|
2021 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Indianapolis Gearheads.
The Brooklyn Sycamores topped the Indianapolis Gearheads, 10-4, in Ottoneu Lockdown League action at The Junkyard. The standout performance belonged to Brooklyn pitcher and Tampa, Florida, native Lance McCullers Jr.. Brooklyn reliever Carlos Martinez picked up the win, upping his record to 9-3. Ty Buttrey took the loss.
Brooklyn used the clutch hitting of Starling Marte to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Sycamores the lead, 3-1. For the game, Marte had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Marte.
The 12th-place Gearheads have lost 4 straight games.
