Moncada Helps Simules Beat Metro Stars, 5-3
|
Yoan Moncada left his imprint on the 5-3 New Orleans win against the El Paso Metro Stars. Moncada, who is tied for 7th in the OLL in extra base hits with 49, went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Kenta Maeda was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts. Edwin Diaz got the save, his 23rd in 26 chances.
Moncada had a key at-bat for New Orleans early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 28th home run of the season and gave New Orleans an early 2-0 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Moncada.
