Simules Raise Rally Flag, Beat San Diego, 7-3
|
A 3-RBI performance from Andrelton Simmons, who finished 5th in the OLL in hits with 209 last year, helped the New Orleans Simules beat the San Diego Matadors, 7-3. Adam Ottavino, 1-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Edwin Diaz got the save, his 21st in 24 chances.
New Orleans used the timely hitting of Jackie Bradley Jr. to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Simules on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll savor this win," Bradley Jr. told the New Orleans Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
New Orleans has now won 4 games in a row.
